Stars Fall Short in Rip City

PORTLAND, Ore. (November 24, 2023) — The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, were unable to claim their first franchise match-up against the Rip City Remix (Portland Trail Blazers’ affiliate), falling 113-110 today at the Chiles Center.

Salt Lake City was led by Utah Jazz two-way player Micah Potter, who secured a game-high 26 points and an impressive 12 rebounds, to go with three blocks. Michael Devoe netted 19 points, on 5-of-8 from the field, grabbed eight rebounds, and served five assists. Jazz two-way guard Johnny Juzang, added 24 points and five rebounds, while Utah Jazz assignee Taylor Hendricks recorded 10 points and eight rebounds.

The teams spent the first quarter in close contention, as the Stars stayed within single-digits from the Remix. Sensabaugh secured a three-pointer to end the first frame, trailing the Remix by just one-point, 26-25. Rip City regained a larger lead, as Salt Lake City struggled on the offensive end, shooting .40 from the field, and was outscored by nine to head into halftime down, 61-52.

The game took a turn after the break, as Salt Lake City outscored Rip City 33-15 in the third quarter. The fourth and final frame was a back-and-forth battle that saw six ties, and five lead changes. However, the Stars were unable to close the gap as the Remix claimed victory 113-110.

Malachi Smith led the Remix with 25 points, five assists, and four rebounds. Rayan Rupert poured in 24 points, while pulling down 12 rebounds.
