Birmingham Beats Rip City In First-Ever Meeting

ORLANDO, Fla. – In the first-ever meeting between the two teams, the Birmingham Squadron, NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, beat the Rip City Remix 116-109 at the Orange County Convention Center Tuesday afternoon.

Birmingham (9-6) center Trey Jemison recorded a double-double with 12 points and 18 rebounds, his second game this season with as many boards. The 18 mark is one rebound shy of the Squadron all-time team record.

The Squadron shot the three at its highest clip this season (55.0%), a 22-of-40 mark. Jalen Crutcher was 7-of-9 from behind the arc and scored 23 points on the night.

Every Squadron player besides Tevian Jones scored in double-figures on Tuesday, while Jones notched eight but did not miss, going three-of-three from the field.

Rip City’s Terence Davis scored 38 14-of-21 shooting and made 10 three-pointers for the first-year affiliate of the Portland Trailblazers. The Remix shot 50% from three.

Birmingham plays its second and final contest at the 2023 NBA G League Winter Showcase Thursday as the Squadron take on the Stockton Kings with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m. CT on the NBA App or NBAGLeague.com.
