What Is A Two-Way Player?
Hunter Hippel /October 10, 2023
Two-way players are players who are signed to a two-way contract with a NBA team. This means that the player is eligible to play at both the NBA level and G League level with the franchise. However, the player is limited to 50 NBA games on the team's active roster in a single season while signed to a two-way contract. If the player and team wish to exceed this amount, the player's contract must be converted to a standard NBA contract.
Each NBA team is allowed three two-way slots on their roster. The Trail Blazers three two-way players heading into the 2023-24 season are Skylar Mays, Justin Minaya and Duop Reath.
Rip City Remix games offer an up close and rare opportunity to see the Trail Blazers two-way players display their talent. Due to roster size and positional overlap, two-way players may not earn consistent minutes at the NBA level compared to their playing time in the G League.
